About Me
I have spent almost 26 years working in all aspects of the print and design industry. I began using that experience to design websites eight years ago and started my own business in March of 2006. I am a native of Knoxville, TN and have received enormous professional experience not only here in east Tennessee but living and working in Dallas, TX and New Orleans. LA. I understand what commercial clients need and expect from a professionally taken photo. With At Large Graphic Design & Photography, I am finally able to perform my own photography making sure that the photos required for my graphic design work enhances those designs by embracing the same creative vision.
With my own young children, I have discovered that this same commercial style makes very exciting family portraiture. Believe it or not, like many people, I was still taking my kids to the popular photo mills to get pictures and was continually disappointed by the experience. Trying to keep my kids entertained while waiting for our session to take place, being rushed through by a bored and overworked photographer and ending the session with a very pushy sales person left my wife and I frazzled and often unsure what we purchased and why it ultimately cost so much. After one of these episodes I vowed to take our own pictures from now on (Why not? I have all of the same, if not better, professional equipment and skills.). The rest of the story is easy to guess. Photographing my kids leads to taking photographs for our friends and family and discovering my bold/graphic shooting style makes great family portraits that everyone enjoys.
For me, every session is a new experience capturing the moment. Its a new subject to get to know, a new expression that someone has been hiding, or a new emotion that gets revealed. I look forward to seeing the moment you and I capture at our next portrait session.
